Poll Worker Requirements

We’re sorry, but you do not qualify to serve as a Hillsborough County poll worker at this time based on your responses to the requirements assessment. The correct answers to the assessment are indicated below.

 

1.  Are you a registered voter in Hillsborough County? YES

Florida law requires that all Hillsborough County poll workers be registered voters in Hillsborough County. If you are eligible to vote in Hillsborough County, please register to vote and then return to this quiz.

 

2.  Are you at least 18 years of age? YES

Poll workers in Hillsborough County must be at least 18 years old. If you are not 18 yet, please apply again once you reach the required age and are registered to vote. 

 

3.  Are you able to read, write, and speak the English language? YES

Every poll worker in Hillsborough County must be able to read, write, and speak English. 

 

4.  Do you have access to reliable transportation? YES

Poll workers must have reliable transportation to the polls on Election Day. 

 

5.  Are you capable of sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time? YES

On Election Day, poll workers perform vital duties that can involve sitting or standing. Due to the length of time that the polls are open for voting, there are often periods of extended standing and sitting. 

 

6.  Are you able to start work at 6:00 AM and work 14 or more hours on Election Day? YES

By law, the polls are open on Election Day from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Poll workers must arrive at 6:00 AM to set up, and stay until after the polls close to pack up the site. 

 

7.  Are you able to lift 15 to 30 pounds to assist in the set up or break down of a polling location? YES

Poll workers are required to set up and break down the polling location. Occasional lifting is required to perform the necessary setup and break down procedures.

 

8.  Are you able to remain nonpartisan while working for the Supervisor of Elections office? YES

Poll workers must be able to remain nonpartisan at all times while working the polls.

 

9.  Do you agree to complete all required onboarding including but not limited to background screening? YES

Poll workers must complete all required onboarding if offered an assignment. Additionally, effective January 1, 2021, all new poll workers are required to complete employment eligibility verification (Form I-9 and E-Verification) in accordance with F.S. 448.095.
